BMW Sees Sales Gain in December 2017
Earlier this week, BMW Group reported that the company enjoyed an excellent December sales performance in the United States, with the 34,253 BMW vehicles sold across the nation representing a 4.3 percent sales increase over the 32,835 vehicles sold in December 2016. For the full year, BMW delivered a total of 305,685 vehicles to United States customers.
BMW credited the month’s performance to outstanding sales results for the BMW 5 Series sedan, with 4,743 models sold during December for a sales gain of 124 percent. The BMW X5, which increased 10 percent on 6,847 vehicles sold, and the BMW X1, which enjoyed sales of 4,454 vehicles for a 6.4 percent jump, also delivered excellent December results.
BMW Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales were strong all year long, with the 135,864 vehicles sold representing an increase of 5.2 percent over sales in 2016.
Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America, was quoted in a press release as saying, “Momentum has been building throughout 2017 and the December results have put us in a strong position for the New Year. Our BMW models are attracting entirely new customers to our dealerships, especially the BMW 5 Series, X models, and our electrified vehicles. There’s much more to come in 2018 with the next new model – the BMW X2 – premiering at the Detroit Auto Show in less than two weeks.”
